The Richard Serra retrospective has just opened at MOMA. If you aren’t familiar with Serra’s industrial shipmetal sculptures, now is the perfect time to visit. The exhibit will be running through September. I can’t wait to see it and have a visit planned for next week.
If you’re unable to visit, MOMA’s site offers an online tour of the exhibit, accompanied by Serra’s voiceover. Pretty well done, but you still miss the panicky thrill of being wrapped in enclosures that weigh over 250 tons.

If you’ve been following the PC vs. Mac ads, you may have compared the American versions with the British versions, and come to the same conclusion:
The British do it better.

Check it out.
There is something so wonderful and effective about hearing the word “naughty” in a British accent. It’s Sexy! It’s Fun! It’s Fantastic! It represents a nation of men hung up spankings.
Now, envision the same ad in an American accent.

My Love recently picked up the corporate gauntlet and now leaves the house clothed in suits. Very handsome. And picking out smashing ties is the closest I can come to a male Barbi-fying experience.
Up until now, both of us had relied on the old Four-in-Hand procedure of tying. It’s fast, it’s easy, and a drunkard can manage. (Our reasons crystallize.)
And that’s exactly the problem. The Four-in-Hand looks like what it is: quick and slightly sloppy. So, we’re upping our image, and flossing out those late nights at the Kula Hut.
So, will you, will you Windsor with me?
Tie it, Baby!
And just for the sake of balance, here’s a very charming entry in defense of the Four: What would Bond do?
(Almost swayed me. But I’m vain, a prat and partial to villians.)

This last week I started an Entomology/Athropod Meetup group, which I’m hoping will grow in size:
So, if you like bugs, insects, spiders, ticks, caterpillars, and/or lobsters etc. Please join us. Our meetings will be in the NYC-area, but we are happy to take anyone with an interest in entomology.
And now, a sampling of Brooklyn’s wildlife. Behold, the Urban Bathtub Rhinoceros.

Though similar, on closer inspection, I can see this is not the U.B.R. at all, but rather, a house centipede. Really quite beautiful, with delicate long legs. Extremely fast and excellent hunters. If it’s possible to sinuously gallop, then that is what they do.
